oh oh oh! i pick the stockade! we have a corn maze near us every fall (it's actually extended summer) but there's a "pretend" stockade there and i must admit, my 19 year old daughter looked cute in it. i took a picture of her in them and she's flashing the peace sign with both hands...lol only i'd make it where they don't unlock for aig! and i just read in the paper something about aig wanting the bonuses back from the insurance execs?
i thought they were the "good guys" of them all... (i read the headlines on the atlanta journal's homepage - that's my start page even though i'm in baton rouge)

I got the following line from the Washington Post:

"Can capitalism survive the behavior of some capitalists? It's always been an open question."

Now my question is....Do Corporate Exec's really deserve the off scale salaries and bonuses they pack away every day and every year and have been since time began? American Ideology has always answered this question in the affirmative when times appear to be good! However, in a system collapse into chaos, the question always arises....Is the value of one man so great that he should be rewarded so excessively for his contributions that “capitalism” can tolerate this disproportionate compensation? My experience with applied capitalism and corporate worth tell me…not even close!

In reality, there is no objective measure of true value of compensation in our society once a certain degree of complexity appears in assessing goods and services. It is the "Parasite Affect"! An even more insidious disease of American Capitalism is that the disproportionation is more extreme in the other direction. There are truckloads of people who should be valued more by our society that are left with a small fraction of the compensation they deserve. People who are not parasites but actively contribute to society but are pissed on because their role is distant from the money stream. America is unique in that for a short period of time in the 20th century the money stream swelled and flowed into higher levels of society than had been typical in the past. It seems even a short trip to what is percieved as the promised land will make the strongest of minds quite arrogant.

THat reminds me of one of the greatest of all Bogart lines:

"I don't mind a parasite, it's a cut rate parasite I object to!"
