We just got home an hour ago from Pete's birthday celebration and a day of delayed/canceled flights, double-booking, etc. Too tired to comment on more details right now, but it was incredible. A once-in-a-lifetime experience. I've wanted for years to be able to tell Pete how much he has meant to me; how he changed and formed the tenor of my life. When all 18,000 of us, not prompted from the stage, sang "Happy Birthday" to him at the end, I knew that the feelings in that building, plus continued contributions to Clearwater, will pretty well cover it.

Goofus--Regina tore up a popcorn box ('cause we didn't have paper) on which she kept a setlist. It's a work of art. After an appropriate recovery time, details like that will come out. There was SO MUCH music, one WOW right after another, and we are so tired, that there's no way without a written setlist that Jay or I could tell you. Maybe someone else can ... I'm headed for bed.

I'm so envious Shelly and Jay, but mostly happy for you to have experienced what sounds like Folk heaven to me. I can't wait to hear more about it! Rest well and happy blunderdreams......

I *think* the picture captures Bruce and Arlo (I'm partial to the Bosslinger, myself) during the en masse "This Land is Your Land," complete with the verses Pete always sings. It's definitely either that or one of the other final songs -- "Well May the World Go," "This Little Light of Mine," or "Goodnight Irene."

Sounds like a great show. If Mike were here I would've gone to the Pete BD celebration Hootenanny in Richmond. That would've been fun...

It was absolutely, totally amazing! Definitely a concert for the history books--an instant legend!!!

lol: Ceashel. Yah aint none of us getting any younger. That show was a pipe dream for me. I get tired after a 4 hr. drive. Marathon shows, I'd be kidding myself.... In 97 I went to see the Dead reunite after Gerry Garcia died.(Futher Fest) 8 or 10 bands played. It was a great encore, with all the groups closing with Woody's "Going Down This Long Dusty Road"?

I could blame it on the weed, but I think it was just a case, of my ears ringing.... ntm: I underestimated my funds, and drove home, and pulled in the drive way. The car was not only outta gas, it went BANG. The sound of a broken strut...

I hadn't planned on going to the show but got two tickets at the last minute (Thank You, Arnie!). I sure am glad I did and got to be a part of this historic event! Unfortunately I suck at set lists so I'm glad to hear that Regina took care of that! I can't say that one moment stuck out in particular...it was the most amazing show I've ever seen! Got to see several friends briefly before the show and that was nice.

Thanks again, Arnie, for letting me be part of it. I'm only sorry you had to miss it because I thought the seats were great!

Hi - I didnt get hit in the head or even sit in Newark for 7 hours...so I'm almost back to what Id call normal. I have recovered all 5 pieces to the popcorn box/set list. With John's help I will post it Sunday. We are also trying to get the pix John took on his Facebook.

We had wonderful seats, but John was up taking pictures, so I sat, head craned for a couple of sets, not seeing much, (Because of 3 6'+ people in front of me) but enjoying the music. Then I saw-on the screen- "JOAN BAEZ". I leaped up from my seat and ran to the wall (we had the two aisle seats and the wall did not block anyones view) and stood in front of JohnC. I was NOT about to miss seeing her! (Luckily JC can see right over my head) WOW!!! I have to admit that I stood there for most of the rest of the show.

Hmmm - My favorites in no particular order:
Richies Freedom, ADG & Jack's Worried Man, EmmyLou & ADG Precious Friend, of course Kris & Ani's "Hole in my Bucket" (esp when Kris said - "MY name ain't Willie" which totally threw Ani for more than a second.) The Internationale, Ruby Dee's poem, and Tao's encore which was incredible.

BY the way, Arlo, who likes to lead us to believe he's somewhere lost in the 60's showed his INCREDIBLY professional side during whatever was going on on stage during "Worried Man". Maybe a dead mic or something near Ramblin Jack. There was a lot of chaos going on including a guy walking (on stage) right in front of Arlo while he was singing - but ADG never lost focus or a single note. (He also resisted looking out at the audience and saying "There's a lot of Hippies down there"). He knew it was all about Pete - and he did himself very proud.

But my very VERY most happy memory was seeing some friends I havent seen in too long & getting some WONDERFUL hugs.

I cant wait to have some time with JC this weekend to re-live it.

I went to a Furthurfest show. It was the one in VA Beach that Arlo was in. That was a neat time there. The closest I'll ever get to seeing the Dead I guess...
