I find I'm watching old episodes of Password. The web is a wonderful pool of relooks when there ain't nothing worth looking at that's new.

I'm reasonably sure there is too much to see that makes no sense, too much to do that does, and so when left with good sense, I find stuff that makes me laugh or think. On Facebook, the What Is Your True Indian Name test named me Moon Willow. Whatever pretense I had to perspective is pretty much frakked by that.

Yup.... she resigned. Threw in the towel, got out of the kitchen, flew the coup .... she left office! Come now, why not call a spade a spade?

Does she assume the nation should let her back out of her commitment to the state of Alaska without repercussion. What does this do to change the nature of an oath of office?

(Let's forget about that she didn't even call John McCain to let him know what she was doing.)

Just wondering how her intellect may have factored into that decision.

The Alaska state flower is the forget-me-not. The American people will not forget that when things got tough, SP quit. Put a fork in her; she's done politically.

what i seem to be gleaning from any of this (in spite of my limited experience, knowledge and tolerance of/with politics in general, which makes me recall phrases like, "con-fused man" and "fusion groups") is that SP's resigning, quitting, (failures?) is that some women take it personal (?)
...kind of like black people taking it personal that oj was tried for murder or because i don't think i would want al sharpton running the country might also be taken personal by some blacks....or why anyone at all wouldn't wonder about gw!

that having been said, sexism and racism (and all kind of other isms!!) are alive and well!

this is not to say i would vote for sarah to run the country! (same time, i sure hope someone(s) can help move us (and the world too?) in a positive direction despite any inclination they might have for "pretty speak"!

I just want to say that I do not take Palin's personal failures personally! In fact, I don't relate to her on any level !

What I do take personally - and maybe this is coming thru- is how she is being judged as a skirt and not on her accomplishments, her educational achievements,her record in office, or even her values. Sarah Palin is an insult to every educated female who worked hard to be legitimate. You could say Palin is a like a witch doctor! Who is that crazy Coyote up in Alaska ?!!

I just got a message from Move On.org......according to them, the main reason Sarah P. resigned is that she is being offered Big $$$ to lobby and speak and fight the new "Clean Energy Bill" Obama and congress are working on......getting paid to do what she does best: rally the masses to support dirty coal and big oil......"Drill Baby Drill!!!"......my opinion of her has nothing to do with her gender or party affilliation, it has to do with ignorant statements she continues to make like "human activities have nothing to do with global warming", "sex education and evolution should NOT be taught in schools", and her behavior, like shooting wolves from airplanes and trying to get her ex-brother-in-law fired from his job using her position as Governor. She is an ignorant whore for the forces of darkness; I would say the same if she was a male democrat or a member of my family. I'm not as worried about her influence now, she's screwing her own reputation. It is EXTREMELY troubling to me, however, that she got as close as she did to being "one heartbeat away from becoming president". My God, I believe America missed a bullet......

And yet, there she is on the cover of Time Magazine last week. Call it old age or my southern upbringing, but I can't call a woman an "ignorant ....", heck I can't even type that without recoiling with a sense of self-abuse. I don't agree with what she's said about evolution or sex education, and I do have close contacts that drive into the White House and work there.

What I see is a left addicted to its rage to the degree that any strong focal point for that becomes a tempest and that is precisely what the evangelical right had going for them: their disgust. I'm not saying she is right; I'm saying that rage will elevate her the same way a water spout lifts a boat. It isn't meant to fly but put enough velocity under it and it soars. A storm on the ocean does not sink a boat that doesn't sail into it first.

I have a sense of where you are coming from Len, and we ain't that far apart in many ways. However, my live and let live, accept people for who and what they are philosophy, and my general reluctance to be judgemental; tend to apply to people that do not seek an office that let them make policies that we all have to live with. It's not a double standard, it's a higher standard.
George W. Bush got elected because people liked him after all. Very few people with I.Q.'s larger than their shoe size had much awe for his intellect. As ugly and distasteful as it may be, if you throw your hat in the ring, there is much more that is fair game than if you didn't. A large part of that is needed, although there is no doubt that many lines get crossed that should not have been.
