A coup for Hillary and the State Department while Obama was trying to extricate his foot from his mouth for the Stupidity debacle. She would have made the best first female President and otherwise, a fine President. OTW, relief for the Ling family and relief for the rest of use who got a bit tired of seeing Lisa crying on morning TV over a mistake by her sister.

I don't dis what they've done, but it is another example of high profile personality politics for causes hard to determine and who cares anyway as long as the news bytes are well-framed.

They don't call him slick Willie for nothing. I don't think Kim Jong scored many points, nor did Obama personally, but his philosophy of communication and diplomacy just passed an important test. And in many ways, it may reflect the willingness of other nations to work with us again, trust us again, and most importantly respect us again. It's amazing that we (as a nation) allowed one man and his relatively small "gang" to almost destroy those precious things and more in only eight years.......anyway, if this strategy becomes successful we could soon be functioning under an "Obama Doctrine": War and threats of war only employed as a ultimate last resort. This differs somewhat from the "Bush Doctrine": We reserve the absolute right to launch pre-emptive strikes anywhere, anytime, against anybody we feel threatened by in any way, screw the U.N., screw what other nations think about us, screw the Constitution of the United States, screw the poor, screw science, screw the environment.......WE, of course, meaning W. and 'All the President's Men'......

Yeah, the 'first strike' philosophy set me off early in the Bush years. I was campaigning agin 'em before it was cool because of that.

The comments were intriguing.

What shocked me was the people in the government or near government circles I worked in who wrote to tell me that it was actively dangerous to do that. Then I really understood and campaigned harder.

Still, building up Obama seems to be a way to participate without taking any risks. It's cool to be doing that. Once again we are marching for any cause as long as it's cool.

That is where the fight is right now IMO. If we don't get anything else done, we have to get health care reformed and we have to keep the window open on the mind boggling financial fraud perpetrated on us by people who are walking away not only without consequences but even richer.

The debate will be whether or not America showed weakness or rewarded North Korea.

America got her citizens back before it dominated the conversation.

That's a win-win. What's wrong with that?

Battles worth winning, friends, battles worth winning. We got our ladies back.

Now the Iranians will want the same negotiations. And we will negotiate.
