it was definitely still warm out (hence the midnight thirst(?)) but i have not witnessed an ornery bat (?)
only if cornered (or perhaps if it is sick) like any creature they are like, "go away...too many!"

This reminds me. Once in the 60's when I was a young thing I recall a bat somehow getting into my folks house & my dad having to shoo it out while my mom was scary of it. Yikes...

i am glad the bat got away okay. and ron, i am glad you were able to safely and successfully relocate the bat!...i don't suppose i would want a bat to somehow get inside fluttering about the tent in the middle of the night...i might get startled and possibly even ornery :)

The most important lesson I learned about bats is: don't use the fire extinguisher to chase them out of your bedroom, it just makes a terrible mess.

Yes indeedy there agnes old gal the relocation of said bat was so it wouldn't be folded up in the tent we were taking down. Probably would have crushed the poor thing ya know. Not a pleasant end for a creature that eats those nasty mosquitos - one of the benefits of building and keeping a bat house (much like a bird house) nearby in the summer.

Fire extinguisher!!!! Yikes!!!! Messy indeed. I figure the bat wants outside as much as we people want them outside. They just can't find the door/window as easily as we can.

Yes, I believe you did. My mind sometimes goes on this assumption that everyone thinks just like me and of course that is rarely the case. I think you mentioned feeling similarly. Sometimes our communication is so imprecise for lack of a better term. I know what my brain is thinking but can't get it out there in a good manner. Scenic routes are good. Don't be discouraged by that in the least - no that you are and there I go again. Say no more.
