Ants in your pants isn't funny, if you're the one with the ants. I discovered that in 1982 in CA on a camping trip in the High Desert area when I had a couple of fire ants crawl up the leg of my jeans and proceeded to bite my legs. I discovered biting fire ants will make you take your jeans off in a hurry in front of anyone and everyone, in public places. The bites left swelled knots that lasted for months.

A few years ago, we visited Australia...they had some curious ants there. Blue-spotted ants! Green ants with red legs!
We were on a tour of some outback areas, and before getting into the SUV, I had apparently stood on a green ant nest entry, and a few crawled up my pant legs. They did bite, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the fire ants.

...and I guess I didn't mention that it's hilariously funny for people watching the ant-afflicted person fling their pants off in a public place, screeching , "Ow! Ow!! Crap, that hurts! Ow!!!"

First musical number (beginning at about 2:30 or so) is an homage to Australia, including vegemite...

Here in VA we're being afflicted by ants. My mom had them in her house & had to spray to get rid of them. I found one crawling on me one day. Yikes...

Hey Cheryl, don't know if this is available in your area but Terro ant killer works pretty good. Nice thing is you don't spray it - at least the kind I have used. You place a few drops on a piece of cardboard, leave it where you see the ants and WAH LAH they be a fixin' to die rag!

Okay, back to the dance question. Why do you think some songs do get you up and on the floor - hmm oxymoron: up and on the floor - and others with equally a good groove do not? Does the melody have an effect?

Ants in the pants - that's a fun game, but in real life not so fun. I've heard that if one would sustain too many bites from fire ants that one could go into anaphylactic shock. Good that you were able to avoid that Sue.

That's why I did the pants-flinging thing...I only had three bites. There were more than three ants in my jeans. We had a fire ant nest at our campsite.

My brother in law went into anaphalactic shock the last time he got a fire-ant bite.

We had a tarantula crawl into our tent the next evening. That was interesting, too!

re: the dance question...i think it is kind of nice that it is one of those things that does not always require you think about it? (not that there is anything wrong with thinking about it if you want to!)
