I took Jim and son Kevin to see this...it's great, and they loved it! They didn't think they would like it (they were humoring me) but they did enjoy it in spite of it being about hippies. Go see it if you have a chance; you won't be sorry! Good soundtrack (lots of Richie Havens, and Arlo's Coming in to Los Angeles was included) and it is true to the book, which I read a couple of weeks ago. The book is available at Amazon and is a fun read.

so... was the version of 'coming into los angeles' in the movie "taking woodstock" the ACTUAL version from woodstock?

i noticed that the taking-woodstock movie soundtrack has the song on it - i wonder if any of you know if it has the sound 'problems' mentioned in this other thread?

i think i just answered my own question - found a 30second clip of the song that's on the movie soundtrack and it sounds faster than what was in the movie so i'm suspecting they did not put the 'real' version with the audio problems on the soundtrack. (can anybody confirm i have that right?)

I have bought the remastered dvd from the movie ( a week ago now ) but i did'nt see him yet .

Saw it....Loved it...Just reinforced the knowledge I already had that despite the mud, the rain and unpreparedness for such a turnout, I missed the party of the century because....I was 14 and grounded....see "Memories of Woodstock." An excellent 40th anniversary reminder of what it was really all about with all the behind-the-scenes look at how the cogs in the wheel turned.

I saw the movie and I currently own the DVD....Great story, it's a gas!
Too bad the movie did not feature any cameos by the original Woodstock performers. I was hoping that Arlo would make a cameo appearance in that movie as a party going guest at the El Monaco Motel. That was where Arlo stayed back then just before he took a flight shuttle to the 600 acre field that Friday.

Wow, I didn't know he stayed there at Woodstock. Pretty neat info. Ya'll know more about it than I do...
