Now you know some fellahs, they want fame & fortune,
Yeah, & other fellahs they just wanna swing.
But all I wanted all my life,
Was an Ol' Guitar, a bike & a wife...
And a front row seat to hear ole Arlo sing...

It seems as though Shel Silverstein was once in a similar situation as myself. Lol. This is my first post on Arlo.net, so I hope you all don't think i'm nuts. ;-) My name is Kourtney, I'm 26 & from Kansas. I've been ramblin' down the path of life Arlo & his fellow troubadour's paved for me since I was 7 years old & my dad taught me Alice's Restaurant word for word. Now, life to me will be incomplete until the day comes when I get to see him live. I said the same thing about Ramblin' Jack Elliott, until I drove all the way to Hibbing, Mn & seen him at Dylan Days. I slept in my car, played my guitar on the shore of Lake Superior for gas money to get home, & it was an experience of a lifetime. One that i'm sure not many girls my age could say the same for. It doesn't get more real than that. Which leads me to my dilemma. Arlo is going to be performing in Overland Park, KS on March 27, but I can't afford a ticket cause I just got laid off from my job. So... I'm gonna take my guitar & harmonica, go park myself on Maine Street...and play. I figure hey, what do I got to loose? But, if im gonna get an Arlo ticket out of it, then I'll need a pretty damn good setlist, lol. So, does anybody have any ideas?

Welcome to the site. Sounds like your folks raised ya right. So sorry to hear about your job. Hope things go well for you to see Arlo. He's doing some new stuff on this tour and it's interesting and fun...

Isis, I'd love to help you out with a ticket. If there is anyone else here who feels that they can afford to chip in some cash, please let me know. I can probably pay $10 toward a $35 ticket. No one should have to miss an Arlo show because of the economy.

Please PM me if you can help out.

Thanks,
Terrie

I'm speechless... Your complete strangers to me, yet your willing to try and help me get a concert ticket? Woody would be so proud, cause there still are Pretty Boy Floyd's roaming around this world. Thank you both for your kind words. I had always made my way on my own. I ran the printing press for the local newspaper for the past 8 years, and could honestly say I loved my job. But the newspaper is a dying breed and they just couldn't stay a float any more so they let us all go.

Just don't get too excited yet; no one has sent me any responses. But hang in there :)

Terrie & isis_75,

I'd be glad to help. My birthday is coming up, and I'd rather give than get anything.

Terrie, if you want to coordinate or let me do it, let me know either way.

Thanks,

David

Thank you Terri and David, from the bottom of my heart. When I didn't think I had a chance,
You cut to the core
quicker than anyone I knew.

Best of love,
Kourtney

"Hey, Woody Guthrie, but I know that you know
,
All the things that I’m a-sayin’ an’ a-many times more.

I’m a-singin’ you this song, but I can’t sing enough,

’Cause there’s not many men that have done the things that you’ve done.
Here’s to Cisco an’ Sonny an’ Leadbelly too
,
An’ to ALL THE GOOD PEOPLE THAT TRAVELED WITH YOU.
HERE'S TO THE HEARTS & THE HAND'S OF THE MEN,
That come with the dust and are gone with the wind..." - Bob Dylan

Our Blunder buddy and friend Cheryl Cheeseman contributed also :) We have proved once again to be a most caring community.
