I think I made a Blunder (or maybe an anti Blunder?) I got all my hair cut off. It's about half an inch all over. I was out mowing and raking my paddocks this morning and tho it's a sunny Autumn day there is a chilly SouWester blowing and doggone my neck was cold! At night I have to pull the sheet right up over my head cos my ears get cold.

I think I'll grow it back. What do you think? ( can I still call myself an "old Hippie" with short hair? :D )

when you"re a hippie for as long as weve been , there comes a point when the philosophy of who you are dominates over anything you might look like !!

Get a warm woolly cap and enjoy your new look and feel for a while : )

I'm sure it still looks good on you. I have a cousin who was a hippie in the 60's and had long hair then. It's short now. So old hippies or ex hippies in his case can have short hair too. :)

As one who had no hair for a while, I can tell you that it's perfectly all right - though I did wear hats for a bit (think knit skullcaps)

It does grow back, and YOU can choose how long or short you want it! Whatever makes you happy is what you should do.

To quote some wise words my Grandmother imparted to me many times, "It's what's on the inside that counts."

you are who you are kid! i actually like short hair. long hair is nice too. mine was way long for a while, as a kid it was kept short, and now it is not way short but way shorter than it was....i seem to prefer it that way! and even when it was long, i would wear a muffler in the cold (as in scarf larry, not combustion silencer!)...anyway...have fun with it!

It can always grow back if you want it to (unlike the follicles that have jumped ship on the top of my head).

It was 1970, on our way to the Powder Ridge Drug ....er ...I mean, Rock Festival in CT. My friend and I stopped in Middlefield, which was jam packed with hippie types. My friend pointed to a guy about 100 feet away from us who, from profile, had a ZZ Top beard and hair past his butt! My friend said, "Look at the hair on that guy!" 'That guy' then turned toward us and the whole other side of his head was shaved clean! Even his eyebrow! And, no, we hadn't imbibed any psychogenics .... yet.

By the way, Louise, found a US source for Vegemite and ordered a big jar! Thanks for turning me onto and supplying me with the yummy stuff! IOU!!!
(A Larry response is sure to follow soon!)

Hehehe. I've been letting what hair of mine that will grow, grow. Now I'm a bald man with long hair. I think you're in way better shape than me. The upside is that people have been telling me I look like George Carlin!?

I got tired of having mine trimmed...so I didn't, and haven't...for a couple of years. So it's waist-length now. Not a problem in hot weather; it goes up and off my neck just fine with a clip or something.

May hair was long for yrs, then my mom suggested I cut it when I was greeting ready to go into the 9th grade so it'd be easier to take care of. So I did. I grew it out some yrs ago and it is long again...

Just had 2.5 cut off my shoulder length hair and the young hot Barmaid in this New Town told me I should have let it grow half way down my back.

Though there was an old-timer on the 5 minute walk on the bike trail off the deck, said you look like an old hippie.

Maybe its the 40th Alice T-shirt I'm wearing out like the 4 or 5 of Arlo's All
Over The World one's I've worn out...

 :P

I gave up haircuts. The last one was in late 2007. It's down to my shoulder blades now, so, if I cut it off and you need some, just call me.

Zap! A U.S. source for vegemite! I'm sorry brother, but I'm going to have to turn you in to the office of homeland security.

I've done the same thing Louise, and then realized I didn't like it. It'll grow back. Can't be considered a mistake though, cuz you can only find out if you like something some times by trying it out. Can't escape being a hippie though.

My daughter's friends all think I am a hippie and the hair hasn't been long since the late 80s when it became an obstacle to getting to work on time. Some might think that was a breaking point but apparently the kids don't. To them hippie is a philosophy of living, a way of talking, a style of humor, and musical tastes.

"Kids say the darndest things." and if you know who said that, YOU might be a hippie.

Truth told, by the time I was wearing long hair, we were called freaks. Hippies kept bombs in their VWs. Freaks kept bongs. Now if you know who popularized the term "freaks", you might be a local.
