Probably most of you have already heard about this, but for those who haven't: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have announced "competing' events for October 30, 2010, both to be held on/near the National Mall in Washington, DC -- a "March to Keep Fear Alive" (Colbert, http://www.keepfearalive.com) and a "Rally to Restore Sanity" (Stewart, http://www.rallytorestoresanity.com).

I've been thinking about how to do my part for this endeavor, and what my personal slogan for it should be, and suddenly a lightbulb went off tonight that there could be no more appropriate slogan for the March than, "We know it's stupid; that's why we're here." And I still have my t-shirt. Is anyone else interested? I'm thinking we could wander the streets chanting lines from Mooses Come Walking, or the dangers of pickles and crows...what do you say? Anyone interested?

but if i hear reports of an "out of control" "fringe group" in the middle of this 21st century be-in, i will have my suspicions as to who they are talking about! :)

If you can get to New York City, you can get a free bus ride to the Restore Sanity rally, courtesy of Arianna Huffington. She has promised to lease as many buses as there are people who show up in NYC who to go to the rally in Washington, DC.
