Some of you may remember that a few years back there was a racehorse named Arlo who ran with limited success at midwestern racetracks. Well, that Arlo dropped out of sight, but now there's a (new, improved?) 3-year old Arlo running at Parx Racetrack in Philadelphia. He's still a maiden (meaning he hasn't won a race yet), but he ran 2nd on New Year's Day, suggesting his first win may be imminent.

I'll try and keep the group posted on his exploits. Funny that an identically named horse would be allowed so soon after another with the same name. I think the folks in charge of these things, the Jockey Club, have relaxed their rules somewhat lately.

If I were a racehorse, I'd rather be named Arlo than Stewball........

Well, I think that four-legged Arlo finds the subject of balls, stewed or otherwise, altogether too painful. It seems he's a gelding.

Blunderhorse Arlo is entered as #2 in the 4th race at Parx in Philadelphia tomorrow (Tues., 1/18). He finished second in each of his first two races, so maybe tomorrow's the day!

Blunderhorse Arlo will have to wait for another day, I'm afraid. Bad weather around Philly forced the cancellation of today's racing program. Watch this space for updates.

Arlo is entered today at PARX RACING.

Race 4, No. 5. Not sure they'll be running, however; it's very cold in Philly.

Arlo proved to be a blunderhorse today; he could only manage a 4th-place finish, and will have to wait until another day to win his first race.

Here are today's race results from Philadelphia:

Arlo finished 1st by 6 1/4 lengths, on February 13, 2011, at PARX RACING in Race 5.
Off odds: .60

P.S. He finally won his first race; the going gets tougher now.

Arlo is entered in a race at Parx Racing on March 16th. He's a pretty nice racehorse! 5 starts, 1 win and 3 times 2nd, earning $52,700! I'd be proud to own him! GO ARLO GO!
