I wish I had read more posts before I responded. I am talking about people that are disabled. People that cannot survive on their own. The people I'm talking about would not have the wherewithall to rob you dumbass.

Actually I do quite a bit of work for people who are disabled and I do so happily. I make a distinction between welfare and disability. However, I do know of a few people that abuse the disability system we have in place. They claim this malady and that malady when I know perfectly well that these people are healthy enough to do SOME kind of job. When I see kids with severe mental retardation bagging groceries for a living or working in small easy jobs, it really pisses me off to see some people milking the disability system. I for one have no problem with some of the countries tax revenue going towards taking care of legitimately disabled people, because these people have no choice. It isn't like they can just work through it in many cases. These people are not disabled because of entitlements, whereas I feel many other people collecting something from the government because they now have an entitlement mentality thanks to years of government encouragement.

I agree that there are abuses, there are abuses in everything. That does not mean it's okay to pull the rug out from under the people that really need it. Design a better program. Whatever. Just don't allow people to suffer and die because of the abusers.

The fees and taxes on the trucking industry are woefully insufficient to pay for the damage that industry does to the highways.

Communities spend vast amounts of resources (acquired through local, state and federal taxes) to build and maintain the infrastructures that are required to "court" businesses into the community. Advertisements are something like, "Here we have are fully modern INDUSTRIAL PARK area that is near enough to utilities THAT WILL SUPPLY ALL YOUR POWER NEEDS and complete with a modern and up to date WASTE DISPOSAL SYSTEM.

Of course the pay off is jobs. This is done to bring money into the community (not to help the corporations profit). It is a system. The corporations bargain from their point of view and the community bargains from its point of view. If individuals in the community raise too many questions about how this works they are labeled free loading socialists. We all no money has no patriotism and that is why our American Corporations have now become ex patriots in droves.

It is a fact that China has taken a huge swath of land and done everything they could to build the infrastructure to pull in corporate entities. There are empty cities there that promise the profit driven capitalist all the advantages and cheap labor to boot.

So as we hear ranting about tyranny and ancient kings and other assorted bolognie the fact is, if capitalism is to work, it is a system. The corporations get their profits but the community gets sufficient compensation to take care of its individuals.

Again, the same old bullshit that if the greed of the few is not fully satiated then we must pay the price in tribulation.

Have you ever driven a truck or worked in the trucking industry? As someone who has, and someone who organized a teamster labor union in that industry, I can tell YOU the above statement is bullshit. Ever heard of fuel permits? Most states require them before you can truck anything into them:

And industry pays a large portion of those taxes. If communities were SMART, they would charge zero taxes, but that is an entirely different argument.

The community does get compensation, in the form of a paycheck and the huge taxes it has to pay. You do realize that the corporate tax rate for most corporations is around 34-38% right? Then if they take that money and re-invest it and make a gain, they get taxed again at 15%. Oh, but they pay NOTHING. What a crock of bullshit.
