I guess you can't express your point, only cut and paste from radical left wing extremist sources. At least I present if not neutral, then varied sources.

But anyway, if it was perpetual, we wouldn't be worried about the solvency of it would we?

''A pyramid scheme is, hello, shaped like a pyramid. Check out the excellent description at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyramid_scheme. There are tiers of pseudoinvestors, each layer being smaller progressing towards the pinnacle, ergo the pyramid analogy. It is a vertical affair with the tiny elite at the top making huge amounts of money, which flows vertically up to the peak. The few a bit lower in the upper layers may do pretty or fairly well too, but the great majority that make up the lower levels will be badly screwed. Pyramids are also unstable bubbles vulnerable to collapse. Often opaque at least some degree, they may or may not be legal.''-article

Wow, this person is an idiot.. There is a difference between a pyramid scheme and a Ponzi scheme. Had you even read the EXACT SAME SOURCE before you quoted it, you would know this:

Quote:
A pyramid scheme is a form of fraud similar in some ways to a Ponzi scheme, relying as it does on a mistaken belief in a nonexistent financial reality, including the hope of an extremely high rate of return. However, several characteristics distinguish these schemes from Ponzi schemes:
In a Ponzi scheme, the schemer acts as a "hub" for the victims, interacting with all of them directly. In a pyramid scheme, those who recruit additional participants benefit directly. (In fact, failure to recruit typically means no investment return.)
A Ponzi scheme claims to rely on some esoteric investment approach and often attracts well-to-do investors; whereas pyramid schemes explicitly claim that new money will be the source of payout for the initial investments.
A pyramid scheme typically collapses much faster because it requires exponential increases in participants to sustain it. By contrast, Ponzi schemes can survive simply by persuading most existing participants to reinvest their money, with a relatively small number of new participants.

What a super idiotic comparison; it makes the rest of the article meaningless. And as usual, you don't answer the question.

Until Reagan borrowed from it to pay his budget there were funds. Not the IOUs that they may be now. But economist will tell you its fully funded for the next 25 years. It has not contributed 1 dime to the debt. Today, its about like the issue Slavery was to Jefferson when he said, ''That's an issue for another generations.'' Only add that Jefferson part in...because there is plenty of things broken right now, but SS is not.

To your kind its just something that works by the Govt, so you can't see.

Just like you want to destroy The Post Office. America could learn much about Belgium's Bank of The Post Office. Many other countries are doing things like that to. But you are going to think, we are talking about a Central Bank of the Post Office. You can't see outside of the box of your closed mind, to see how a Local Bank a The Post Office could help fund cities and towns, where you want everything privatized, for the propriety rights of profiting, above anything else.

Jesus Leo, NO NO NO! You are confusing funding for solvency. When they say it was funded, they mean there would be enough people paying SS tax to take care of beneficiaries, not that there was a tub with some money in it. You can argue the merits of SS all day long if you want, but at least get the facts right..

It is the largest expenditure the Federal government has. How is it possible it has not added to the debt. EVERYTHING has added to the debt.

If you don't think SS is broken, well, I am not sure what else to say. It will not be here for you or me unless drastic changes are made.

I see just fine. I pay into the system, I collect a pay check, I live here. Those are three things you do not do. If anyone is having clarity issues my friend, it is you.

Destroy? I want to eradicate it. It performs a useless function, just like horsed cavalry.

Tell me, how are the austerity riots going over there in Belgium today? I heard they were hitting each other with water cannons the other day. What has the KING said about it all? Yeah.. No thanks..

Oh, so post offices are now funding towns? WTF? Has that ever been the goal of a post office? Yes, I want everything privatized except for very basic functions. You do realize your commune mindset is the status quo right? For the majority of time, all over the world, men have lived under tyranny, servitude, and misery. The dwindling freedoms in this country are the exception, not the rule. You want to bring us back to dark ages. I say no thank you.

Thanks for the great awakening from your bs. I'll now be voting for Rocky Anderson. Its people like you who make me feels as Gandi (that evil peaceful ant-christian.) felt when he said (paraphrased of course.) of Ron Paul is ok but if his follows are right, Arlo must be as nuts as they are.

You don't like the Post Office, don't pay for a stamp. It hasn't taken a dime from the Govt for decades. Oh Sanders idea on expanding it, to allow it to delivery beer as private sector business doesn't sound so bad. Hell, we all want to find a way out of the Fed. Why not let Towns have a Credit Union at the Post Office.

Can you tell me how much money Reagan borrowed from what you call an imaginary fund? He covered his budget from that borrowing. No wonder, (a little speculation.) the GOP wants to do away with SS? It doesn't want to pay back its debt to the people.

America is the only Police State I've lived in. Belgium is no Police State. As said earlier, it set a record for the longest time that a country had ever gone with out a Govt. Over 500 days...so something here works.

Thanks for the awakening. I'll be now voting Rocky Anderson.

This was probably a statement or question from another thread. How many Treaties did America keep with the Sioux? And how many Treaties did the Sioux ever break? The answer is, America kept none, and the Sioux broke none. Oh you will next write out of the Constitution, that keeping Treaties is a law, for that would get in the way of making profits. Which is probably the reason we broke all our Treaties with the Sioux.

Jafo, the village idiot excuse wears thin once you have been called on it! Just trying to help!

Soon you will be saying we can cut 40% of our debt by canceling Grandma's Social Security and Medicare! That is just stupid son! I don't buy it! Then my taxes will increase (or else the 40% of the debt cancellation is bullshit) and I have to pick up the tab for Grandma. WTF?

When you learn how to spell Gandhi, perhaps you will even learn how to remember quotes accurately.

Like millions of other Americans, I don't. That is why they are in the red..

Quote:
The post office was $1.9 billion in the red for the second quarter of the fiscal year and continues to face the possibility of running out of money before year's end.

The agency cited the recession and movement of mail to electronic communications in announcing the loss on Wednesday.

Funny the agency didn't mention kooky Sanders theory of retirement and benefits funding as the cause.. Must be an evil Fox News conspiracy.. Oh wait, it is USA Today.. Ummmmm.. It's GW's fault! I mean Reagan.. I mean the great MEDIA-RIGHT-STORM.. HAHAHHAHAHHAHA!

leoburg wrote:

Because they can't even run the post office right. Why not just go to a fucking bank?

How about you get into the 21st century? I mean we COULD dig into Belgiums history too if you would like. I am sure the KING has plenty of skeletons in his closet..

I like the idea of North Dakota's State Bank. Other States are studying it. A bank at the Post Office could help pull that trick off. There are lots of people getting pissed off at our Banks.

My online stuff has paid off just fine. Its blessed me with a wonderful lady, here in Belgium, who likes what my service is all about. Think its cool that they functioned just fine without a Govt for over a year. But they must have learned somethings from America. First thing they did when they got back in, back in December, was raise taxes on Beer and Cigarettes.

How much money did Reagan borrow from this imaginary S.S fund? Have heard from many many sources that he borrowed much. That is a given. That must have had something to do with why Clinton ended up including it in the budget, where it has never belonged.

You call Paine's wishes Utopian Dreams? Things that would be proof that a Govt was insuring domestic tranquility. I don't see much proof of America being the greatest at anything, except building GUNS AND BOMBS. But on another tangent: (Though there was no great reason to go to the moon.) NASA did help create a lot of jobs, that has produced some great Tech stuff. But somewhere along the line, we lost an unwritten social contract, of when, basically, companies knew they owed something to society.

Why don't you ask India how this capitalism, we exported, has helped so many there living on 50 cents a day? Sure, it profited a few there, being the pyramid scheme that it is. Some lady writing activist from India, (with a last name of Roy, and first name I can't spell.) knows enough facts about all that.

Jafo, if you look back there, the Fed was created by the bankers and administered by the bankers in 1929 and 1930 that you say we should have turned to to keep the Great Depression from happening. JP Morgan's boys were running the Fed in 1929! He was long gone and could no longer personally broker the 65 million dollar 30 year loan he arranged with the government in 1893 (not without gaining considerable influence I am sure), nor was he around to personally supply tons of cash to absorb the bank runs of 1907 (albeit, selective banks for sure) but his legacy (the Federal Reserve) and his team were there to run it.

How exactly was I beaten?

The Fed was created by Congress..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Reserve_Act

Quote:
The Federal Reserve Act is an Act of Congress that created and set up the Federal Reserve System, the central banking system of the United States of America, and granted it the legal authority to issue Federal Reserve Notes (now commonly known as the U.S. Dollar) and Federal Reserve Bank Notes as legal tender. The Act was signed into law by President Woodrow Wilson.

Ahh yes, our favorite "progressive" Wilson..

One may argue that bankers have too much influence in Congress, and I might agree, but that is not the fault of capitalism is it? That is like blaming a dog for eating all the food in your pantry when you left the pantry door open. Get Congress out of business and bankers have no need for them.

Well, you were beaten when you look up the facts, like what I posted above, instead of making them up. You said the Fed is purely a private construct which is factually false. Nice try though. It is a government institution, who mans it doesn't matter at all. The institutions meddling is what caused the great depression, not capitalism.

You seem to say because those who manned the Fed were once bankers, that it was the banking industries fault. That is like saying, because Adolf Hitler was once a beekeeper, beekeeping is responsible for the holocaust.

Oh so Jafo, in your 21st Century, Treaties are no more important than they were in the 19th? Sounds a lot like how Bush felt too, on Iraq.

Meaning, why don't you quote treaties that were written by people that were younger than our great, great grandfathers. This is quite a stretch isn't it? I mean, we could talk about Belgium's great misconduct in the Congo then couldn't we? Let's see how history remembers great old KING Leopold II.. I believe it is known as the colonial genocide:

http://www.yale.edu/gsp/colonial/belgia ... index.html

Quote:
“The result was one of the most brutal and all-encompassing corvée institutions the world has known . . . Male rubber tappers and porters were mercilessly exploited and driven to death.”[6] Leopold's agents held the wives and children of these men hostage until they returned with their rubber quota.[5] Those who refused or failed to supply enough rubber often had their villages burned down, children murdered, and their hands cut off.[1,3]

So what do you think of your wonderful Belgium now?

Well boys and girls it is time now for that funny man Jafo, Too Silly to take seriously...Take it away Jafo!

(applause applause)

Jafo Post (Pork Pie Hat Thread) Jan 28 (10:34am)
When entitlements take up over 40% of the federal spending, where we have to borrow almost $2 trillion a fiscal year, then NOTHING IS SOLVENT. Get it MAAAN? What does it take to get that into your head. If you make $10 dollars a day and spend $4 of it on food, then spend $28 on everything else: you are still insolvent! WTF maaan?

If these entitlements were stopped today, 40% of federal spending is GONE. Magically it would seem.

Jafo Post Feb 1 7:34 am
I challenge you to find where I said we could eliminate 40% of the debt by defaulting on social security. Not only are you apparently insane, you are a bald faced liar too.

Jafo Feb3
After I soundly defeat all your "arguments" this is all you have? Well, I will not reply in kind, rather: just have a nice day Kevin.

As for the other two, who cares what liars think. I certainly do not. They could not come up with a reasoned argument, so they lie.. I am used to such tactics from the deranged left.

Jafo Post Feb4

I defeat everything you say, it pisses you off, so you MAKE UP stuff and then tell everyone I said it. The fact is, you have no legs to stand on anymore and your credibility is shot.

Jafo Post Feb 7

The Great Depression was a failure of government, not capitalism. I will turn to Friedman again to dispel your great depression myths:

Jafo Post Feb 8
My argument is that Fed did not do their job, the ones they took away from banks in 1913 when the Federal Reserve was created.

So yes, socialist MEDDLING created the great depression, not some failure of capitalism.
