I never labeled anyone a socialist, you did. I have labeled people in this discussion as Laissez-faire capitalists. Or progressives. I believe these labels accurately depict the view that these people held of themselves and as they were perceived at the time.

You are the one now relabeling people as socialists in the name of JAFO'S GRAND VISION OF AMERICA PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE!

Anyone who passes tariffs like those imposed in Smoot-Hawley, is not practicing free market capitalism, they are practicing socialism. If you want to judge the actions purely on a label you have attached to a person, that is fine. I just call it as I see it.

BTW, did everyone see this?:

Yeah saw it, don't see the big discrepency you're trying to illustrate between the two statements. They're both correct: means, motive, opportunity........" only the greedy capitalists" - is that what you're saying?

I think he is saying, Jafo, that the semantics defense is the last bastion...anyway

So, we have proof positive with your indisputable logic that socialism caused the Great Depression even if it implicates such gods of American Capitalism as John D Rockefeller and JP Morgan?

I had no idea how amazingly stupid you are until this moment.

I'm sorry, was that impolite?:

We've all been chanting that about you for a while. Not so much for the weeping one.
