What didn't you understand about my saying, ''even if Teddy did start Corporate American Empire, it doesn't mean that we can not try and apply some of his thoughts, towards something that will work?

Gee, you mean socialists can be greedy?

Tell me, where is the great socialist nation where the people are free and life is wonderful and it rains candy gumdrops?

Nice way to take Smith out of context, how about the full quote shall we?

Quote:
The necessaries of life occasion the great expense of the poor. They find it difficult to get food, and the greater part of their little revenue is spent in getting it. The luxuries and vanities of life occasion the principal expense of the rich, and a magnificent house embellishes and sets off to the best advantage all the other luxuries and vanities which they possess. A tax upon house-rents, therefore, would in general fall heaviest upon the rich; and in this sort of inequality there would not, perhaps, be anything very unreasonable. It is not very unreasonable that the rich should contribute to the public expense, not only in proportion to their revenue, but something more than in that proportion

He is in favor of a consumption type tax, which I am for. But if you are going to follow Adam Smith, then I assume you have no problem with some of his other quotes, namely:
Quote:
"The proud and unfeeling landlord views his extensive fields, and without a thought for the wants of his brethren, in imagination consumes himself the whole harvest ... [Yet] the capacity of his stomach bears no proportion to the immensity of his desires ... the rest he will be obliged to distribute among those, who prepare, in the nicest manner, that little which he himself makes use of, among those who fit up the palace in which this little is to be consumed, among those who provide and keep in order all the different baubles and trinkets which are employed in the economy of greatness; all of whom thus derive from his luxury and caprice, that share of the necessaries of life, which they would in vain have expected from his humanity or his justice...The rich...are led by an invisible handto make nearly the same distribution of the necessaries of life, which would have been made, had the earth been divided into equal portions among all its inhabitants, and thus without intending it, without knowing it, advance the interest of the society..."

If we can't apply those words of Smith to today, they would end up meaningless.

‎''Little else is requisite to carry a state to the highest degree of opulence from the lowest barbarism but peace, easy taxes, and a tolerable administration of justice: all the rest being brought about by the natural course of things.''-Adam Smith (He may have or may not been right. Marx surely saw the suffering of the people?)

(We have gotten a long way from those times. But all aware people, understand the havoc we are now suffering under, which Reagan set into orbit of massive chaos at high volume.)

Since profits have gun through the roof since Reagan, and real wages have not gone up since the 70s, take your form of Capitalism and park it where the sun don't shine.

That is always the excuse of the left..: That these ideas are outdated. What makes it even more humorous is their solution, which is something akin the serfdom.

Its the same old story about the good the bad and the poor.

My main ideology would best be defined, as looking for solutions from where or who ever they may come from.

Where we come from, way back in the early 70s, we knew Zappa was a genius, right after his ''I am the Slime song came out. Heard he was also a conservative.

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed and deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed.

I'm the tool of the government
And industry too,
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you.

I might be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away.
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say.

I'm the best you can get.
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozin' out from your . . .

Take it away Don Pardo

YOU WILL OBEY ME WHILE I LEAD YOU
AND EAT THE GARBAGE THAT I FEED YOU
UNTIL THE DAY THAT WE DON'T NEED YOU
DON'T GO FOR HELP NO-ONE WILL HEED YOU
YOUR MIND IS TOTALLY CONTROLLED
IT IS STUFFED INTO MY MOLD
AND YOU WILL DO AS YOU ARE TOLD
UNTIL THE RIGHTS TO YOU ARE SOLD!

TAKE IT AWAY, FRANK!

Thanks, Don!

That's right folks . . . Don't touch that dial.

I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
(NO, FRANK! I'M THE SLIME!)
You can't stop the slime, people, look at me go.
(I'M THE SLIME, I AM THE SLIME)
I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livin' room floor
I am the slime from your video
You can't stop the slime, people, look at me go.

HA HA HA HA HA!
BWAH HA HAH!
BWAH HA HAH!

(Who was that?)

I swear, Jafo is starting to remind me of Newt wanting kids at schools to clean their own damn bathrooms.

Yeah, how dare he? It is much better to teach kids how to rely on the welfare system instead..

Our food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever!! They are even advertising to encourage people to get on the program.

At the same time, the Park Service, which is also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "please not feed the animals." Why? "Because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves."

Ironic, isn't it?
