I'm sorry you grew up to learn it that way. I love God because He's sort of my best friend. Never seen Him, save for a really strange dream once, but it seems like every time I'm about to blame Him for soem calamity, the calamity turns out to be one of the best blessings I could have. God doesn't hit us. People hit us. Sometimes God prevents things from happening, but more often He lets them happen so we learn. God teaches me whether I pay Him or not.
