Found out that Arlo is coming to Australia the other day. Great promotion (not) It is SOLD OUT in Adelaide, my home town.
Last time he was here it was poorly promoted, but a great concert with Arlo Solo. Norwood hall was about one-third full. The time before it was well promoted - it was the Live in Sydney tour with Abe. The hall was full. I would be responsible for a good number of the audience as I think Arlo's concerts are as close to perfect as you can get, with engaging stories and expert music delivery. So I tell everyone. It is being performed in a church and this would have been so wonderful to see but alas, this will not happen. I wonder how many others will miss out. I kneel to the ground, head facing upwards, arms out to the moon and scream WHY?????

Adding to my own post, in explanation, Norwood Hall had seating for about 1000, the church probably considerably less than that. Not one of my colleagues saw any promotion for this concert and some are as downbeat about missing out as I am. A friend texted me that Arlo was being interviewed on radio and that was the first I heard. And not to see Sarah Lee and Johnny Irion whose live album/DVD I have is double regret. I might hang around the church on the night anyway. You never know...

So sorry you missed out. I've had my tickets, for months, for the Brisbane show. In future keep an eye out here on this site or on the Rising Son Records site and you will see the concert dates well ahead of time. Good luck!

I had joined arlo.net many years back but I guess it had changed and I was lost off the system. I even had bought many CD's from Rising Son, Sareh-Lee and Johnny, Folk Uke, Abe's band etc etc and at one stage had an online chat with Arlo about a few things. But I suppose you are right - keep an eye on the Arlo site. Still, to be sold out either means a successful promotion or wrong venue. You don't get many chances to see him and after the last, I wondered whether he was ever coming back it was so poorly promoted. Such is life.

Shows how popular he is down there. Hopefully you can make on of his other shows there. I think they needed to book him in a bigger venue.

Just streamed an interview that Arlo did on and Australian radio show. Nice 20 minute piece. However, he mentioned that his guitars are locked up in customs! It just hit me - they arrested his guitars?!?

I keep wondering if he got them back yet.

Am in trouble here Louise - was planning to go to the Brisbane show tonight and drew the short straw for some work in the Adelaide Hills that can only be done this weekend, so that's where I'm at now. Was then planning to catch up with ADG at Twin Towns on Tuesday, but a client has called a meeting in Wodonga on Tuesday. grrrrrrrrrrr. So plan C is to try for Melbourne on Thursday night. Thanks for the update Louise. But, you didn't say whether Arlo had to borrow guitars or if his poor innocent incarcerated instruments were sprung in time for the concert.
