We get Aljazeera TV in Ireland and I was wondering how many folks in the USA have watched this channel. Seems to be a very good station that appears to be both factual and fair re news stories. Did some excellent reporting and continues to give us a lot more info than our own Stations concerning the mess that paupered Ireland is in. (Greedy bankers, Greedy Speculators, Greedy politicians, 'Carpetbaggers' etc who bankrupted our country and paupered many of its citizens)

So I was just wondering if folks in the US are 'allowed' to watch Alj or does it remain a big No No?
Personal view is that the people of the USA will gain more from watching Alj, I don't believe its anti-US.
The USA has lost too many of its brave daughters and sons in the Middle East among other places to ignore a channel such a Alj which exposes the warts and all. Off course all news comes with slants and other news comes censored. Maybe a can of worms is waiting? Maybe there's nobody there?

Anyway, I was just wondering what you think?

i see very little tv, but have seen aljz on you tube a time or two. a
time or two i have considered worth seeing, but would not consider
myself knowledgeable enough to say any more than that. it could be on USA channels, i just don't know.

I think I read somewhere that some kinda liberal news channel that Al Gore had here in the US was bought out by Alazjazeera. And they were gonna change it over to the Alazjazeera channel. Dunno if that's gone thru yet or not tho.

Hi folks,

Aljazeera did a positive short documentary and write up on Woody, his music, influence etc last year. You can get on Aljazeera.com by just typing in his name. They did one yesterday on Martin Luther King and events surrounding the time. They do a lot stories governments don't want you to hear. Off course there are other stations but I've mentioned Alj because many governments have blocked it out to citizens.

In a nutshell, Alj kinda gives you what its really like on the ground in many parts of the world re conflicts and don't pull any punches re events rather than for instance Irish media which 'filters' events. Having served on peacekeeping duties with the toothless yapping UN in a number of middle east countries during the 80s & 90s including Lebanon and Iraq (89) etc it is a much much worse mess now with apparent civil wars all over the place that ain't going away. WW3 has already begun and spreading like a cancer across the world.

Arlo's "When a soldier makes it home" captures a truth about a reality and overlooked aspect of war no matter where. It is relevant and as fresh today and one of the most inspiring Anti-bloody-war songs I have ever the privilege to listen to again and again. Every 'Grunt' is in that song. I would easily put on a par flip-side with the 'Universal Soldier' song but better in my simple opinion.

Sometimes I wonder that if it was a 'Woman's World' instead of a 'Man's World' would we have all these (cockerel) wars. Sometimes I wonder that if we hadn't got all these 'man-centered/made' religions that mention something called 'Love', would 'God' actually give a fig let alone exist? Perhaps the world would be a better place for us all? That's me rant for now and hopefully one day peace will actually be given a chance - All things are possible, even with 'mustard seeds'.

Peace, love and goodwill to all including all the 'whistleblower' singers and peacemakers of this world.

The Middle East is going to get a hell of a lot worse and we probably will all become a wee bit more interested of necessity. The USA is involved at all sorts of levels with just about all the players out there and perhaps Aljazeera will be an asset. Perhaps even a small determining factor in any future movement of US military being sent to the Middle East where, as in Roman times, nothing changes but the water.
It has been of benefit to us - hope its a positive, beneficial, enlightening experience - just like Arlo!

Heard with it buying Gore's station that we were going to get a watered down version of it.

Just in case, I should mention that if you do happen to go into some of the blogs on Aljazeera relating to the Middle East be warned. Some of the people on the blogs appear 'normal' but things can get really and I mean really, heated between the sides and others. ( Some fool called 'Peacebomb' tried encouraging Peace talk. Poor dumb "Peacebomb' was attacked from all sides as supporting the other side. 'Peacebpmb' has given those blogs a miss for a while) Some bloggers are constantly and verbally at war. Its a hot intense war in virtual reality, so you can imagine the colourful fireworks which are not watered down! (Imagine a bloody Cock fight involving numerous cocks from a couple of farms pecking and tearing themselves apart and then imagine one wee hen just happening to dander in and l hope you get the picture instead)

We watched Alj today. Great and informative reporting and revealing what a bloody mess our world and humanity is in (one may even have thoughts of 'living in the 'End Times'). The facts are depressing but the truth is revealing. They also do lots of 'good news' stories without the icing. Wait until they get their hands on Arlo and clan. Imagine, no more 'Barney' songs like they had in Iraq, just Arlo peace magic! (Maybe we could encourage Alj to chase Arlo, clan and Pete down and give us all something great to watch and hear?)

Peace, love and give a hug to the world.

I'll take that on me hairy cheek Giantone Sir and hope you have a nice day! Grab a wee bit of Woody's "My Peace" if you can and I'll rest in my peace. Hugs all round fellow Time Traveller. In my humble opinion sir, we are all BS one way or another. I will apologise if I have inflamed any free thinking spirits out there in China, Iran, the USSR etc. Lets leave it to some 'higher power' to decide whether I am an inflammatory trollop or something worse? I mean, I mean, I mean, what does that make you know who and I am sorry if the hug doesn't fit. Arlo Guthrie got me on here - nothing else, that's who!

Ps. Just in case you meant 'BS' as British Subject :x you would be partly correct in that coming from Belfast in British occupied Ireland I was indeed a 'British Subject' growing up in my native city but an Irish Citizen all my life now living in a paupered banana republic. (I don't mind 'God' saving the Queen but I never did get around to enjoying that old, outdated hymn "God save the queen". I have no problems at all with other people enjoying it but I would prefer the 'The Motorcycle Song' in the twinkling of an eye)
I am glad that Arlo has performed both North and South of our beautiful country and do apparently like his music and outlook in as far as I know it, which is tip of the Arloberg.
Butt I'm probably correct in thinking about the other meaning re your 'BS'. and that's much, much better to swallow than the above interpretation/meaning.

Another big Irish hug  and of course lots of love and Peace. :) to all, including any trollops that visit this 'Dump'. Keep the faith. May you birthdays be happy and Happy all your future Birthdays!!

Haven't checked in here for awhile. Hi everybody. I have a quick link app to Aljazeera on my tablet and a link on my PC. No problem getting it here in the US and a welcome change from the corporate media money machine.
