I have been 'chatting away' like a Magpie over on your Face Book forums for weeks/months now and I now come here and find that THIS is the place I was/am supposed to be to even 'talk' at you/TO you... After ALL that I have said in the last few weeks/days over on your Face Book Pages and your Flicka Photo Sites I now feel very awkward in even saying/repeating what I have been saying previously...For INSTANCE, I suggested that I wished you would run for President of the United States yesterday and now I feel awkward RE-peating all of that... I thought you were ware of all that I have said over there... How I explained about "Hal Landers" (the CA director/30 years ago and HIS connection with why I am a fan of your... THAT info is all over on your FB pages and perhaps I shall go later and Copy all of it and come back here and paste it here... Perhaps...., but right now I am too embarrassed about NOT knowing about THIS web-site and that THIS is the place I should hve been in the 1st place...

I will return later, after I recover from the shock of all of this... I spent so much time 'saying' what I thought needed to be said over on your FB pages that I will need time to ever FIND all of what I 'did' say...

Hi again Arlo... Thought I'd post this here so you could see how I first became a fan of yours:

In fact he called his wife long distance ,(she was out in their home in CA, Hal was in Chicago on business), and Hal called hr from the restaurant that I worked at and then he did some explaining to her about me and then he put his wife on the phone and we talked for a bit and she said something like/ her conversation as I remember it -->"Hal is so impressed with you Ruth, the way you 'handle' those 'customers' of yours in that restaurant, he tells me that he just discovered another "Alice" like Arlo Guthries "Alice"...

She went on and on about YOU and how much her husband,(Hal), admired "Arlo Guthrie" and "Alice's Restaurant". Then when Hal took the phone back, they conversed for a bit more and from that day forward Hal Landers became a friend of mine... Enough so that I set out to FIND out just WHO this Arlo Guthrie was and what "Alice's Restaurant" was all about...LOL... That was back in 1980... SO, that is how I got to know about you... I have been a fan ever since Hal made such a BIG deal out of you, Hal was "Jack Nicolson's" partner in Film Production, he and Nicolson were business partners.

So you see? I have been a fan for quite awhile now... Hal is no longer around, he passed away a few years ago, I just loved him. He would 'book' the entire restaurant when he was going to be in town and then arrive in a long white limo and stand at the door of the restaurant to greet his private guests that he had invited for that night's dinner, and of course he wanted ME to be there to take care of his special guest/friends. He was so much fun to be around.

Anyway, I thought I would share that with you as I wanted

Hi to any/all that may read this.... I do NOT know how to ue/get around this forum yet so I have NO idea as to how to go about leaving a PRIVATE message to Arlo on here... My vision isn't very good either as of yet because I am awaiting NEW prescription lens/glasses after two very recent eye surgeries... I make a lot of typing mistakes because of my present vision problems so please bear with me....

To cut to 'the chase' I am trying to find out IF Arlo 'knows about' my announcement over on the "Rising Sun" sites that I would like to see Arlo run for President of the United States... I also announced it over on my Face Book pages and I have copy pasted THAT FB Comment below/here in THIS Comment....

NO ONE has said ONE word since I announced my wish to see Arlo elected into office and it is kind of upsetting that not one Democrat and/or Union has said one word about my announcement. I have always bee Democrat up til now but would really like to see a GOOD 3rd party formed and lets get the present "Status Quo",(the Republicans and Democrats), away from CONTROLLING this country to make it work ONLY for them opposed to/(and not), the citizens of these United States! I am NOT NEW to Politics, infact I retired in 2002 from my employment with "The City Of Chicago", My job title with the City was "Computer Support Specialist" and I worked out of the Office of Alderman Eugene Schulter. As you probably EVERYONE that works for the CITY of Chicago is/was/must be a Democrat. and I was a Democrat my entire life before I became an employee of the City of Chicago... Until NOW... I think we need a third party in politics that will step forward and help get this country back where it belongs, in the hands of the American citizens...

Anyway, I am concerned how Arlo my have taken ll of this...('all of this' meaning my ANNOUNCEMENT both on Rising Sun Sites 'and' my Face Book Page. I don't have a LOT of Face Book friends, only have about 270, but 99% of those FB friends are Democrats and out of that 99%, I would guess that over 50% are Unions/Union Affiliates (my Face Book link is directly below this line.

I do want to tell you though that my Face Book Page9s0 is/are mostly political and I have sung/sang/recorded your dad's song of "This Land is your land". I have been posting/Sharing the song on my Face Book page on and off for some time now and I have decided today that I would REpost/ReShare it every single morning on MY Face Book Page and I will also be encouraging other Democrats, especially the Unions/Union affiliates to ALSO record that song, (it would be easy, all they have to do is go sign up as a Blue Member of Sing Snap ,(Blue Members don't have to PAY at Sing Snap, only "Gold" members pay...), so it would be easy for them to go over and record your dad's song then every day, post it/share it to THEIR Face Book Page(s), that way, your Dad, (and what he stood for/fought for/sang for/), sang about will be passed around all over the Democrats FB pages and since all the political stuff is mostly open to the Public, many, many people will get educate to what your dad represented and what THEY should be standing up for in their own lives

I think the notion of Arlo becoming President of the USA is something I couldn't possibly comment on except to say that he would make for a great President of Ireland but just like the USA why would he? Waited a while to see how the Arlo fanatics would respond to your idea and words. Arlo did.
So Ruth, hope you are not too disappointed by the ...... response. You seem to have a really good handle on politics re USA but perhaps by coming on to this site you might just get an indication of how folks there (US) care about things or don't give a fig about things. Perhaps them old grey cells don't think or matter these days of me, me, me.
Arlo does talk the talk and has walked the walk but in his way and in his day. ( He ain't no Mosses but possibly worked a few miracles during his wanderings)

I hope you find what you are looking for Ruth. I think America should look after americans and rebuild anew an America for the people of America. The USA seems to be attracting foes and nuts from all over, some who wish and intend to kill and destroy. (and they isn't all the usual suspects) The likes of the 'Tea Party' (and Ireland got lots of them too) sort don't help matters but we all get what the people vote for even if they are not what we would have wished or indeed voted for. We live in a banjaxed paupered, most beautiful country attacked and robbed by our bankers, politicians and carpet-bagger sorts etc and yet when it comes to the next General Election the people (having been promised ...)will vote for Tweedle Dumb or Tweedle dee and just like the rain and sunshine, life will continue on and on until our personal light goes out and walla...

Life as the grey hair reminds them older grey cells moves on and in the end the only thing that counts is LOVE and sharing that wee bit of peace and understanding with all that we happen to come across on our truly cosmic, mystical time-travelling journey together and then we die. (I left any mention of that wee word sex in case it may offend folks but there's always the "Kinsey Institute" etc for info on that) You americans are surely blessed with much and sometimes with less and even nothing but America has been and still is a great country and some of us Irish have been and are grateful for the help and encouragement given re our 'problems'. Hilary and Bill along with others helped with our budding peace process and they represented YOU folks so all YOU Flower people out there PEACE and UNDERSTANDING and fcuk the begrudgers and wet rags wherever 'Long Drop' they too are sitting above for their day will come too in a spark of light, in a flash, in a twinkling of eyes and plop, they're in heaven!
