Great weather. Beautiful area. Nice people. Arlo and Abe. What a great day it was!!! The only thing missing was Sarah and Johnny. Arlo and Abe were both dressed all in black.

My mother always taught me "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." So I won't say anything about the opening act. On to the setlist. (Excuse me if I get some of the titles wrong.)

Won't Be Long (Until I'm Home Again)
Hard Road Dead or Alive
Gypsy Davey
Slow Boat Back Home
Ocean Crossing
St. James Infirmiry
When A Soldier Makes it Home
Wake Up Dead
When The Ship Comes In
Patriots Dream
City Of New Orleans
This Land

Fabulous fireworks show!!!

Under Cover of Night
Goodnight Irene
Last Night I Had The Stranges Dream

No Encore

We really had a wonderful day! Kudos to the City of Sebastian. They did everything right. Parking was easy, shuttles busses and drivers could not have been nicer. The fireworks rivaled any I've seen. And it was all free!

Right on, Ttrone...! Can't add to your set list, you are on the money, there. Arlo was pure Arlo & made all there feel like he was singing to them, personally. Fortunately, we heard Arlo introed as we walked across U S 1, heading for the Park & stage.
As Arlo sang, a woman my age, (heehee) who obviously knew all lyrics Arlo was singing, waved to a woman inside the ropes. As the woman approached, I asked my concert neighbor if she was a Blunderite, she looked at me like I was speaking in Swahili...!
AS her friend approached, I thought "Wow, she sure looks like Sarah Lee..." then I thought, "of course you Dummy...! that's Jackie...!"
I waited patiently...( not a usual trait of mine..) and asked..." Jackie...?" she extended her hand to me and smiled... partially tongue-tied, I said "I'm an admirer of all Guthries, especially Sarah Lee, I'm Bumper, on Arlo.net" stammering, I said.. "The world is a better place because you folks are in it" and pointed to my t-shirt, w/ SLG's cd picture & her daisy adorned signature, saying "Sarah 'N Diputy"
Jackie giggled , smiled & said "That's wonderful, thasnk you", and squeezed my hand, tightly...!" She walked back toward the stage & spoke w/ a younger Guthrie woman, then pointed back toward me...!
The younger Guthrie woman was Ann...! she walked up to me & said.."Hi Bumper, great to meet you, I've read all your stuff" I blumbered & sputtered something & gave her 10 digital images for Sarah Lee, which she immediately took to the new shiny bus
Those exchanges will stay with me for a long, long time. Not because I'm a star-struck "fan" but, because I recognize the Guthries as a family that LIVES their beliefs, independent of the multi-national bullshit propaganda that passes for pop culture, these days.
We stand, as a nation, about to go to war, for Haliburton & other East Texas corporate arrogances, and untold thousands of Iraqi people are about to die, when only Saddam needs to...!!
Arlo. Jackie and thier children speak and sing the truth!!! simply, with humor and humanity. They all live "by the open door" In my humble opinion, the Guthries are keepers of our TRUE societal spirit, not some packaged, homogenized crap, designed to feed Dow Jones & NASDAQ!!!! enough of that crap!!!
WE desperatly need a national paradigm shift, back to reality, based on the Golden Rule and the application of biological symbiosis that works for all other living entities, here on Earth!
My admiration for Sarah Lee & Johnny is based on their commitment to carry on Woody's tradition, against the plastic grain of the mass media disseminated mindless consumerism
Thank you Guthries, I, for one, am deeply grateful. My ethical, moral and psychic batteries are re-charged, with every Guthrie encounter of the 3rd kind!
I took one digital picture of Arlo & Abe, singing "This Land" w/ a huge fireworks burst in full bloom in the background. an image, for the ages!!, Hopefully, Ceashell can help me post it, here, somehow.....More soon...
Bumper
