Really enjoyed the show, last night, (8-8-03), but really wish they would have played "Alice's Restaurant".

Me too... been seeing Arlo for many, many years and he won't even do the chorus anymore. Says (and he's right, of course) if he does Alice, he can't do 4 or 5 or 6 other songs.. so...

I love "Alice's Restaurant".I made it a tradition in our household to play the old album every Thanksgiving,but hey let's face it-if you played the same 18 minute song practically every night for thirty odd years wouldn't you get just a bit tired of it?
He must've been singing it in his sleep.
I would be just as pleased to hear Arlo play "My Darkest Hour","Highway in the Wind","Garden Of Eden",or "Mystic Journey",to name a few.

I accidentally typed in "Gates Of Eden" as "Garden of Eden" (oops).Arlo does such a haunting version of that tune,it is absolutely mesmerizing.I like his version even better than Dylan's original.
I've got to admit that Chilling of The Evening doesn't sound familiar to me.I couldn't find it on an album.Is it on a recording that I don't know of? (I thought I owned about every album Arlo recorded in one form or another,though Ive been missing a few of my cassettes since my last move).

I also saw where he is doing a new gig at the church Aug 23 cuz he has nothing else to do. We'll be in Ohio then but maybe some of you out there have nothing else to do too& might want to go... <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif" width=15 height=15>

Duh..this must be what they call "chemo-brain"-I pulled out the old Alice's album, and sure enuff I had missed Chilling of the Evening the first time I looked.
I should've remembered.It is a great song.
I'm Going Home is also one of my favorites from that album.

Just my luck, the 23rd is the day after my next chemo.It's only about a four hour drive for me,but it may as well be 40 hours with
the side effects of the chemo.
(basically lots of fatigue,some manageable nausea,wierd things happening to my appetite).(I lost my long hair <img src="http://www.arlo.net/ubb/smilies/frown.gif" width=15 height=15> )
It usually takes me a week to recover and start feeling normal again.Because of the financial hardship we're facing with me having to quit work,the added medical costs,losing my insurance,my wife only working part time for minimum wages,car trouble,etc. it'ld be impossible right now to rent a hotel room for the night.
I don't dare to hope for October,though it has always been a dream of mine to see Arlo at The Church.When I was first diagnosed with lung cancer my wife suggested that I write down everything I've always wanted to do,but for some reason or another have not done.I would look to that list as goals to accomplish to keep my spirits up.
On that list is seeing Arlo at the Church.
(Actually seeing Arlo again would be great,and finally seeing the Church would be a thrill,but the two things together just seems a dream waiting to come true.)
I am begining to see the reality that I may not be able to accomplish my goals without some help.Any suggestions?
